MELISSA & KEVIN: REAL BRIDE STORY

Comments · 249 Views

We met inside a nightclub in Edinburgh in 2014, I was around the dancefloor having a friend, who ended up being a friend of a buddy to him.

He came to say hi and that we hit them back, spending all of those other nights around the dancefloor.

He proposed in May 2018, he picked me up after work and drove us to South Queensferry for any wander because it was a nice evening. It was not till we've got out of the car I realized he was acting a little suspicious, works out he was attempting to hide the large ring box in the pocket! We walked on the pier, I took several photos then turned round to him on a single knee not to mention I said yes!

In the build-up towards the wedding, I visited the Edinburgh Corn Exchange wedding fair with my Mum to achieve some inspiration. It would be a lovely afternoon out also it gives you advisable of the kinds of available suppliers. The catwalk was great to look at as well because it gave a small insight into designers and designs. I also bought the Tie the Knot Scotland and Wedding Ideas magazines.

When it came to the dress, I had a concept of what I wanted, however, when I tried the design and style on, I quickly realized it wasn't for me! I thought I wanted something plain having a bit of shoulder detail but wound up going for any beautiful lace number.

I visited three bridal shops as a whole with my Mum and tried on a good number of dresses. When I tried on my small chosen dress, I thought it was the main one. However, I tried on the few more simply to be sure, but my thoughts kept returning to that one, so I knew I had a success.

I fell deeply in love with the feeltimes gown at www.feeltimes.co.uk. Where I had such an attractive experience fitting dresses. The lace around the dress is beautiful, and I liked the silhouette the skirt gave using the slightly more fitted lacy underskirt and so the layer of lace on the top. The detail around the bust is delicate and I also liked the ivory/nude color from the dress as I am very pale.

To accessorize I have just chosen drop earrings, which may also be my 'new things' plus some flowers during my hair. However, it wasn't until I was mingling, in the end, the photos that certain of my friends asked what my something old, new things, etc was. As I reached for my new things, I realized I had forgotten to place them in! Looking back, the gown was so lovely and detailed, this didn't need any accessorizing.

For the venue, I had my heart set on the barn setting as I loved the type of rustic look. Like a large amount of brides/grooms to become I started a Pinterest board and discovered nice geometric decorations. We are a significant crafty family making the hanging decorations and signage ourselves. It's a great way to make it personal also it's a fond memory looking back towards the time spent together throughout the craft sessions.

Being a May wedding we'd high want lovely weather so adequate outdoor space would be a must. Bachilton Barn had an attractive gazebo set beside a lake which would be a beautiful setting for the outdoor wedding. Little did we all know we would get married during a pandemic, the backyard proved invaluable when our guests could enjoy the ceremony mask-free!

This was our second date (the very first date was May 2020), even though it was hard to not have family from overseas and all sorts of our original guest list we decided we didn't want to wait any longer to become husband and wife. The beauty of technology meant that I was able to live-stream the ceremony to people who couldn't be present around the day. We even gave them a wave before the ceremony started.

We had this kind of amazing day also it went so quick, this didn't even matter that people did not have access to any dancing. It was just like a small reunion for those our guests who saw hardly any of each other in the last year, they were built with a great time catching up!

The best bit was getting the ceremony outside. It would be a bit chilly throughout the ceremony, but it is nice to determine our guests' faces and also to feel 'normal' after coping with current circumstances and goggles for such a long time.

As our cottages were a 5-minute walk towards the venue I walked down with my parents, bridesmaids, and flower girl. Turned out we were a little early for that live steaming from the ceremony, therefore we just waited in the bottom from the road. As I was waiting taxis started coming on the driveway, which ended up being a late guest! We had to stand towards the side to allow it past and all sorts of we could see would be a hand-waving make up the backseat. The photographer captured an excellent picture of Kevin signing "what time would you call this?!" towards the guest.

I want to give a special mention to Tomnah’a Market Garden which comes up with stunning bouquets and buttonholes. I was built with a Pinterest board for inspiration, plus they did this kind of amazing job, I could not have access to being happier!
